About Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)

A digital signature is a mathematical technique used to validate the authenticity and integrity of a message, software or digital document. It's the digital equivalent of a handwritten signature or stamped seal, but it offers far more inherent security. A digital signature is intended to solve the problem of tampering and impersonation in digital communications.
Digital signatures can provide evidence of origin, identity and status of electronic documents, transactions or digital messages. Signers can also use them to acknowledge informed consent.
In many countries, including the United States, digital signatures are considered legally binding in the same way as traditional handwritten document signatures.

Type of Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)

Class – 2 : -

DSC Class 2 is used for filing documents to the Registrar of Companies, Income Tax Return, MCA forms, audit reports, etc. In Class 2 DSC, the identity of a person is verified against a trusted and pre-verified database. It is issued for both business and private individuals use.

Type of Class - 2 DSC :
  • ITR e-filing

  • PF/EPFO e-filing
  • Digital Signature for IEC
Documents are required in Class - 2 DSC:
  • PAN card of company/society/trust.
  • Certificate of Incorporation.
  • Cancelled cheque.

DGFT Digital Signature : -

Documents Required for DGFT Class 2 DSC:-
  • Applicant Detail:(Applicant name, PAN Number, Mobile Number, Email id, Nationality)
  • Organization Detail: (Organization name, IEC code along with branch code, Organization Pan Card, Bank Account(2 pages), ITR ( 1 page ) [In case of Partnership, LLP, NGO,TRUST] )
  • Partnership Deed/Agreement/ Trust deed [In case of Partnership, LLP, NGO,TRUST]
  • Certificate Of Incorporation & MoA, AoA [In case of LLP,NGO/TRUST,CORPORATE ENTITIES]
  • Organization ID Proof of Signatory

Class – 3 : -

With the introduction of e-governance in India, digital signature certificates have become mandatory for participation in online tenders for various Government organisations and their departments. Digital signatures are important to verify the identity of the individual or the organisation participating in the e-procurement process.
The signatures are used to sign electronic documents which are shared via the internet. It is the digital equivalent of a hand written signature. They play a crucial role in online security. No changes can be made to the electronic document signed using electronic signatures. Class 3 digital signature certificates provide a very high level of online security.
